SO IF YOU'RE EVER IN MIAMI'S SOUTH BEACH...

Here are a few recommendations to check out:

1) David's Cafe - a charming Cuban eatery located on Collins & 11th Street - fantastic cafe con leche (Cuban version of a latte), which was voted in Conde Nast magazine for being the best offered in the country,
2) Norkies Peruvian Cuisine on Washington Ave (meals cost as little as $3.75) and
3) Hosteria Romana tucked inside Espanola just off Washington Ave - incredibly authentic Italian with the most gorgeous ceviche salads I've ever seen - giant sized calamari, baby octopus, raw clams, lobster, (large pickled octopus tentacles can be ordered separately) - and other exotic seafood items, like langostino (kind of a cross between a small lobster and a prawn.)  The burly chef will hug you and kiss your hand laughing with gratitude at you being there, and the servers shout with lovable Italian gusto for diners to finish their food. Ay, paisano!! :)

(Also...you probably don't need to bring a carry-on if you ever travel here...just stuff a bikini, shorts, t-shirt and some flip-flops into a small bag, and you'll fit right in.  I walked around the main promenade shopping areas in my standard jeans and small shirt and actually felt like I stood out for being overdressed.  Just fyi.)
